I'm taking over for Duck's little sister today with the odd holidays but this one is a little more in my area of interest.

So for all you science fiction people out there...

May the fourth be with you. Happy Star Wars day.

I'm really embarrassed to say this but part way through this afternoon it occured to me that a lot of people were inexplicably in love with people they didn't love a week ago and it seemed like more than the usual Valentine's Day rush for love.  Long story (or not so long story) short, I was under the influence of a love potion for most of this week.  I'm better now.  And I apologise if I was in any way creepy.  You're an absolutely gorgeous girl and a lot of fun to be around but the truth of the matter is that I'm in love with someone else.  I'm sorry for any awkward positions I might have put you in and I have to say that if I had to chemically fall in love with someone, I'm glad it was you.  At least you're interesting.

I was wondering if you would like to attend the Valentine's movie night that the film club is hosting tomorrow night. I would really like it if you could make it.

Alice, since you won my romantic movie challenge you have two weeks to let me know what you want to have shown for Valentine's day.

I've been thinking about my father a lot lately.

Okay, this is going to sound really stupid and I don't think there's a way to make it sound any less so.  But I'm pretty sure that it's obvious my father is Indian.  But he left my mum before I was even born so I've never really thought of myself as Indian even though I definitely look Indian.  But I've been thinking a lot about it lately and I was wondering if you could tell me.  About being Indian I mean.

I never realised that unkempt is considered handsome.  Go figure

    Private to Duck
You think that they just wanted the token gay guys or what?  Also, I'm making plans with Clover this Saturday.  We were talking about how our individual romantic relationships have kept us from spending quality time together so I thought I'd kidnap her for a Hitchcock marathon.  Saturday night I'll make it up to you.  Start practising your silencing charms.

I've booked the film club room Saturday.  Want to sneak off and watch Hitchcock with me?

Pop Quiz:  Which novel made into a movie was outsold the year of it's printing by the children's book Ferdinand the Bull?  If anyone can find the answer to this question they get to choose the movie for the Valentine's film club meeting.

Speaking of February and film club, I'm going to be showing great romance classics all month.  I know I've asked about romantic films before but it begs another look.  Which movie do you feel is the best representation of film romance?  Remember that I'm using this to choose the February movies.

Also, on another film club note.  The film club meeting room can be "rented" out to groups of students you just need to get permission from Professor Cattermole.  And if you break my stuff I will be very unhappy.

Now, we all know I'm not usually exactly the sharing kind but I had to share with everyone the big assed teddy bear my neighbour lady dropped off today for my mum for Christmas. Still not sure what purpose it serves but Mum says if anyone has a younger sib who wants it she's willing to part ways with her new friend.

Okay film clubbers survey!  Do you want to watch A Christmas Story, It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th St or a series of 1960's stop action animation Christmas themed movies?

Also a question for the general population, funniest movie you've ever seen.

I don't do very well with public speaking even if it's not verbal so everyone just hear me out, okay?

I'm sure that it comes to no surprise to anyone at this school that I'm involved in a same sex relationship.  I'm a little surprised still myself even though I've been fairly certain of the fact that I'm bisexual for a while.  But events this year made me certain and when I became certain I started trying to educate myself.  My boyfriend, Duck, has been invaluable in that regard (and in others of course).  And I thought learning these things myself was enough.

    I don't think that anymore.

Recent events have reminded me that though most of the student population is fairly open minded there are those among us who aren't quite so open.  Which made me realise that maybe I'm not the only one who needs educated.  Maybe we all do.

I know that there are other GLBT (that's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender in case you don't know) students here.  I also know that there are students here with gay parents.  I think it's time that we all come together to speak openly.

What I'm proposing is something that I read about in several of the books Duck gave me.  A Gay/Straight alliance.  A safe place for everyone regardless or orientation and/or gender identity.

Am I crazy in thinking that this is a good idea?

So, Lucy, I was thinking about the dance, and I know that you mentioned that you wanted to go as Madonna later which is cool because she's an '80's icon and so is Bender but I was thinking about the dance itself.  And I was thinking about how we could easily match (if you wanted to).  If you wanted to just do two movie related costumes I can see you as a Hepburn either Audrey or Katherine both were intelligent, elegant, beautiful women which you definitely are as well.  Or if you wanted to REALLY match you could go as Claire from The Breakfast Club. Just throwing out some options if you want to take them.

You both know I signed up for the matchmaking thing for the Halloween dance, it seemed like a good idea after everything with Lysander.  Anyway, I got matched with Lucy Weasley.  Which is good because Lucy's a sweet girl.  But she seems innocent, fragile even.  What is it with me and innocents?  I guess I should just be glad that it isn't someone I might hook up with, right?  Hooking up right now is a really bad idea even if sometimes it feels like a really good one.

I think that it's probably wisest if we look at this as a friendly date. I know you've been flirting around with Ian Corner  Lysander just broke up with me and I signed up so I wouldn't have to go alone.  For that reason I'm glad that I'm going with you, I don't have to worry about expectations since knowing you as well as I do (which isn't exactly that well but you know what I mean) you probably didn't sign yourself up.  Once we get there feel free to socialise as you would if you didn't have a date.  That said, what were you planning on for your costume?  I can't seem to decide between going as John Hughes my favorite director (next to Cameron Crowe) or Bender from Breakfast Club.  Your imput as my date is appreciated.

Dom, Tori, other people might be disappointed with their results but I'm pleased with your choice of date for me, thank you.

I'm not surprised that things ended with Lysander.  And I'm not surprised that they ended because he had feelings for someone else.  Deep down I suspected all along that he didn't have feelings for me but had been caught up in the rush of all the new physical things which is part of why I never let things get too far.

I'm hurt.  I'm a little annoyed too though.  Not that he broke up with me but that I let myself think that he might actually have feelings for me.  I guess this is one of those things to add to the list of life lessons.

I signed myself up for the date thing.

Lysander and I broke up.  Not that you can really call it a break up if I could never call him my boyfriend.  Regardless, it's over.

Okay, as we inch closer to Hallowe'en it becomes necessary to do another movie survey.  This one isn't for the faint of heart though.  What is your favourite scary movie?  And what do you think is more frightening blood and gore or psychological terror?

    Private
I have no fucking clue what I'm doing.  And I hate it.  I like Lysander.  I wouldn't mind calling him my boyfriend but he's so innocent.  Well, not truly innocent anymore because you can't be physically innocent and kiss like he does but I don't know how to get past this wall of his emotional innocence.  I like that he's unworldly but sometimes I get a sense like he doesn't even know what it feels like to want someone.  And if he doesn't know what it feels like then does he really want me and furthermore, if he doesn't know what any of it means then am I taking advantage of him by being as physically intimate as we've been?  Sure, I don't let anything go on below the belt but still, I feel sometimes like I shouldn't be doing what I'm doing until he understands more but I don't know how to make him understand.  And then I think I upset him when I tell him that I worry because he doesn't understand why I'm worried either.  God, I feel like my head is about to explode just thinking about it.

Hogsmeade was fun yesterday.  How did you enjoy it?  Did our first outing as a pair bother you in any way?  Is there anything about yesterday that you feel you need to talk about?

Duck is letting me borrow a book that I think will help you understand the way that people view sex (especially that with a same sex partner).   I thought you could either borrow it or we could look through it together some time soon.

I'm excited to see who makes the Quidditch team.  I know that all of you who tried out worked really hard (harder than I could ever work, that's for sure).

I enjoyed Friday night.  A lot.  I just wanted you to know.
    /Private

Well it seems that Friday night served it's purpose.  There were the requisite number of hookups and breakups and the eventual blowups when people find out just what happened.  Words of wisdom for anyone who doesn't remember what happened Friday night...stay away from the punch.  It's called that for a reason, it hits back.

Question for everyone out there (here?):  What is the absolute most ridiculous line you've ever heard on telly or in a movie or on the wireless?  And the opposite what's the most romantic?

Tonight was my last night at the theatre until Christmas.  I didn't expect to be this sad about it.  Not that I'm not looking forward to coming back to school.  Golly and I will board the Express as usual.  It's just going to suck not having access to movies for three months.  Yes, I know, most of you have heard this lament every year.  I'm nothing if not predictable.

I know I'm a little slow in doing this but what's new about that, right? So for the people who are coming here from other schools, I'm Nathaniel Roberts. I'm not terribly interesting though.   And here is a picture of me.
